Please note: MICA's campus will be CLOSED December 23-26, 2016 and January 1-2, 2017 for the winter holidays. This includes graduate studios and collaborative workspaces.
Graduate On-Campus Housing:
Graduate students living in MICA residence halls (MICA PLACE or Leake Hall) will have access to their living spaces for the entirety of the break. You will be able to access your residence on all MICA holiday closure days listed above. Please contact Evyn Cosgrove in Residence Life if you have questions about access to your residence.
Graduate Independent Studios & Collaborative Workspaces:
This Friday, December 16th, all MICA Campus buildings will close at 7:00 PM, which includes studios/program workspaces. All students will be required to leave MICA buildings Friday evening by 7:00 PM. Please plan accordingly. Graduate students may remain in Lazarus Center past 7:00 PM for Salon, which takes place from 9:00-11:00 PM on the 5th Floor; all students who remain to attend Salon must leave the building by midnight.
December 17t, 2016 - January 15, 2017: graduate students may access graduate independent studios and collaborative workspaces in Lazarus Center, Brown Center, Fox Building, and MICA PLACE from 9AM to midnight, seven days a week EXCEPT the MICA holiday closure days listed above (no access on those dates). You will need to show your MICA ID to access your workspace.
Lazarus Center will return to a 24-hour schedule on Tuesday, January 10th to accommodate the Low-Residency Winter Session which takes place in that facility. All other MICA buildings will return to their regular semester schedules on Monday, January 16th, but administrative offices (including the Grad Office) will be closed January 16th for the MLK holiday.
JHU/MICA Film Centre
The Film Centre will operate on a different schedule. Please see the list of dates/hours below. You will need to show your ID to access the Film Centre.
JHU/MICA Film Centre Hours:
December 27-30, 2016: 9 am–10 pm
December 31, 2016: 9am-5pm
January 1-2, 2017: CLOSED
January 3-8, 2017: 9 am–10 pm
Beginning Monday, January 9, the Film Centre hours will be 7am - 2am.
Campus Shuttle Service, Winter Break Schedule Change
- Limited shuttle services will resume on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 with the Evening Safety Shuttle running from 5 pm–midnight.
- Regular shuttle services will resume Tuesday, January 17, 2017.
- Shopping and Social Shuttles (including the H-Mart Shuttle) will not run during Winter Break. They will resume Friday-Sunday, January 20-22, 2017.
- **A shuttle will be available to take MICA students to BWI Airport. This shuttle, which is free and available on a first-come/first-served basis, will leave from Founders Green at the below dates and times**

INK IT – CALL FOR ENTRIES
BlackRock Center for the Arts is now accepting entries for the juried exhibition "INK IT: Contemporary Print Practices" to be presented February 11 - March 11, 2017 in the Kay Gallery. Juried by internationally recognized artist, curator, and educator Helen Frederick, the exhibit will highlight current fine art print practices by featuring the best graphic work by artists in the region who choose traditional and nontraditional printmaking processes to communicate images and words in multiple. Works by selected artists will employ techniques which include woodcut, linocut, lithography, engraving, etching, mezzotint, screenprinting, letterpress, monoprint, monotype, collographs, chine collé, solar plate, digital printing, along with current innovations. A solo exhibition in the Terrace Gallery at BlackRock will be awarded to one artist selected by the juror. Artists age 18 and older who live, work, or attend school in Maryland, Washington, DC, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and West Virginia are eligible to submit entries of up to three works completed within the past three years.

BLACKROCK EXHIBITION PROPOSALS – CALL FOR ENTRIES
BlackRock Center for the Arts invites artists working in all media to apply for solo and group exhibitions to be presented in the Kay Gallery and Terrace Gallery from January 2018 – December 2018. Visual artists, independent curators, and coordinators of artist collectives and arts organizations who are over the age of 18 and live, work, or attend school in Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington, DC and West Virginia are encouraged to submit exhibit proposals. BlackRock hosts exhibitions of contemporary art by emerging and established artist working in all media, to include site-specific installations, video and other time-based media, performance, new technologies and experimental forms. BlackRock provides curatorial and exhibition support, publicity via print and social media, as well as hosting community engagement events. While BlackRock previously required that all two-dimensional artwork be hung from the gallery cable hanging system, we now allow alternative installation methods, to include work that may require nails, screws or other fasteners. Artists are responsible for transport of artworks, assistance with installation, and attending scheduled events. Application Deadline: Wednesday, February 1, 2017 (11:59 pm EST)
